This article constitutes a systematic review of the literature on the topic of liberating communication in the context of technological professional education (EPT). Liberating communication, based on Paulo Freire's principles, aims at the emancipation of individuals through critical dialogue and awareness. This study's general objective is to investigate studies carried out in the last five years (2019 to 2024) that address liberating communication in the context of EPT, correlating it with the comprehensive training of students. The specific objectives include: examining existing academic production on the topic; identify gaps in existing research; and assess the current state of knowledge. The methodology adopted was the systematic search and critical analysis of articles, dissertations and theses available on the platforms: Brazilian Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (BDTD), Observatory of the Postgraduate Program in Professional and Technological Education (ProfEPT), Portal de Journals of the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES) and Scientific Electronic Library Online (Scielo). Specific search terms related to liberating communication and EPT were used, adjusting as necessary to expand the scope of the search. The results highlight a limited number of studies directly focused on liberatory communication within the context of EFA, revealing significant gaps that indicate areas for future investigation. It is concluded that, although there is interest and potential for the application of liberating communication in technological professional education, there is an urgent need for more research that explores this approach in a more in-depth and integrated way. This study contributes to theoretical and practical advancement by providing a critical analysis of existing publications and by identifying future directions for academic research in this specific area of education. Liberating communication emerges as a promising tool to promote the comprehensive training of EPT students, encouraging critical positioning, active participation and social awareness.
