Abstract

The promotion and prevention of oral health represent a significant challenge for dental surgeons in the Family Health Strategy (ESF). The effectiveness of these actions depends on the use of tools that increase adherence and facilitate the application of educational interventions, with the aim of improving the population's oral self-care. The development of the game “O super dentinho, in an adventure for oral health”, aimed to contribute to ESF dentists, who participate in the School Health Program (PSE), implementing a pedagogical/educational tool with the aim of promoting balanced oral self-care between the students. A digital board game focused on promoting and preventing oral health in schools was developed, based on a meaningful learning approach. The research adopted a qualitative and quantitative methodology, with the target audience being dental surgeons from the ESF and students in the 4th and 5th years of elementary school in the city of Rio das Flores, RJ. The proposed educational game facilitated the activities of dental surgeons in municipal schools through the PSE. An improvement in students' understanding, learning and engagement with oral health education content was observed. The use of digital board games as a pedagogical tool in the ESF proved to be effective in promoting oral self-care among students, contributing to improving students' quality of life.
