This article discusses the importance of childcare spaces that allow children affected by the floods to express themselves and take action from a humanized and community perspective. It aims to analyze the implementation of inclusive and accessible childcare strategies to support atypical children who were victims of the floods in Rio Grande do Sul, in a playroom attached to a shelter. Methodologically, we opted for action research, considering the subjects involved and the context in which they are inserted. As a result, it was observed that the toy library provided a space where the children could vent their energies and anxieties. By engaging in activities that allowed for experimentation, the children fully experienced the childhood that each of them carries within them, regardless of the different cultural and social contexts in which they are inserted. The conclusion is that the playroom, as well as welcoming the children, provided a humanizing experience for all the volunteers involved. This engagement has made them more humane and sensitive to the pain of others.
