Stress is the body's physiological response to challenging and dangerous situations, but in excess it can have a negative impact on learning. In this sense, this study aimed, through a literature review, to investigate how stress can significantly impact cognitive processes and decision-making. In methodological procedures, the research was conducted in the databases “Google Scholar”, “Redalyc” and “Portal de Periódicos da UNIFESP”. As results found, it was identified a) how not managing stress appropriately can generate significant problems in the brain structure. In addition to b) strategies to minimize the effects of stress such as regular physical activities that promote well-being and better memory regulation. Therefore, it is recommended for future studies, discussions related to neuroscience and the impact of stress at different educational levels, translating the results of these investigations into educational interventions.
