Concepts and interlocutions of narrative literature reviews: contributions and applicability

Abstract

This study aimed to synthesize the contributions and understandings about the epistemology of narrative literature reviews available in the literature. To this end, a review of the scientific literature was conducted by means of studies available in virtual libraries. Through the investigation carried out, it was understood that the outline of the narrative literature review method provides the construction of a framework of specific knowledge around a theme that, due to its non-systematized character, provides panoramic, effective, and credible communication. One of its main advantages is scientific communication and the comprehensiveness of interdisciplinary aspects that contribute to the achievement of the objectives. It is urged that the narrative literature review method enables the conjuncture of the advances and the sciences produced around a theme, impacting positively. Besides the academic scenario, the problem of the distance between communication and scientific production and the updating of professional practice in different areas, including healthcare.
