Abstract: this research analyzed the need for continuing health education related to biosafety measures during the fight against COVID-19 among healthcare workers. The study, which used a quantitative approach, was conducted in 2020 with the participation of 178 healthcare professionals in the city of Palmas (State of Tocantins - TO). The data obtained revealed inadequate rates of adherence to standard and specific precautions. Only 29.6% of the professionals correctly indicated the sequence for removing protective gear, while 68.7% showed failures in hand hygiene. When relating the biosafety measures to the profile of the participants, it was found that nursing technicians and assistants demonstrated greater adherence to specific precautions compared to other professionals. On the other hand, being a physician was a protective factor, with approximately 60% greater chance of performing correct hand hygiene compared to nursing technicians. The results supported the priority themes on biosafety measures, which were addressed in ongoing education actions with health workers during the fight against COVID-19. In the face of new challenges, such as epidemics/pandemics, it is necessary to diagnose ongoing education needs to implement significant educational actions.
