The objective of this work is to analyze the promotion of “Social Technology” at school through the construction and use of a solar cooker, promoting awareness of sustainable practices and promoting the reuse of food. The use of solar cookers at school, in addition to enabling methodologies to develop teaching content, reveals a way in which “Social Technology” can be used. Initially, we investigated the nutritional situation of students and characteristics of school meals in a public school in the State of Sergipe to plan what practical activities would be like with the solar cooker. Subsequently, workshops were developed that allowed reflection on healthy eating, reusing food and sustainable practices using solar cookers. As a qualitative research methodology, participant observation was used to produce data and apply thirty-two questionnaires to the investigated public (students and school employees) to diagnose the researched environment. The use of the solar cooker enabled reflection on sustainable development and its use reflects on the work with “Social Technology” in the school environment, relating theory with practice, demonstrating more dynamic and interactive possibilities for the teaching-learning process.
