Abstract

Abstract: In the face of the emergence of climate crises and perspectives of the end of the world explored by many authors, this article starts from the discussions proposed by Malcom Ferdinand and Ticio Escobar to think about the consequences of coloniality and its reverberations in contemporary art. While Ferdinand develops the concept of decolonial ecology, Escobar explores the notion of latent aura, ideas that can be considered as updates of Marxist theories from the colonial world. In this text, and based on the theories developed by both, I highlight works by visual artists Grada Kilomba, Ayrson Herácito, Daiara Tukano and Glicéria Tupinambá, which establish themselves as countercolonial artistic practices, dialoguing with the concepts and reflections developed by these authors
