This article discusses how the bodies of fat children are presented in four books of children's literature. In the qualitative analysis, the authors problematize the book's written and visual texts based on studies on the mediation of literary reading representations of the body in literary works and fatphobia The analysis and discussion of the data indicate the existence of advances related to the representation of human diversity in children's books, including less pejorative representations of the fat child. Finally, the conclusion indicates the need to train teachers capable of mediating literary reading, seeking to value human diversity.
