The Paraíba do Sul River Basin is responsible for supplying countless people in the states of São Paulo, Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro, and continuous monitoring is extremely necessary to verify its suitability for its multiple uses. Thus, the objective of this work was to statistically analyze water quality parameters, made available by INEA-RJ, in low Paraíba do Sul between 2012 and 2019, aiming to evaluate whether the values obtained were in accordance with CONAMA Resolution 357/2005 and verify possible significant differences between sampling years and collection points. Among the parameters evaluated, thermotolerant coliforms-TC and total phosphorus-TP showed higher rates of non-compliance, 54 % and 12 %, respectively. TC, NO3-, pH, temperature and WQI differed between years and NO3-, DO, pH, temperature and WQI differed between sampling points. In general, TC and WQI improved between the years evaluated and the point located in São Fidélis was the one with the lowest average WQI value and the highest average TC. It was concluded that the stretch of river evaluated was impacted by the discharge of domestic sewage and improvements must be made to the region's sewage system.
