Abstract

One of the major problems faced by modern society is the accelerated production of urban solid waste. With the rapid expansion of cities and changes in the population's lifestyle habits, the global generation of urban solid waste is around 12 billion tons per year. In Brazil, this problem is no different, with approximately 80 million tons generated annually. In addition to the environmental issue, the reality of many Brazilian municipalities is characterized by the social inequality present among their populations. In this context, even without adequate infrastructure, families resort to scavenging waste to find resources for survival. Given this situation, the research aimed to map and classify irregular storage points for recyclable materials in the urban perimeter of Campo Mourão - PR based on their infrastructure. Data collection was carried out through fieldwork, marking the collection sites, and subsequently creating a map and tables with the collected data. AutoCAD and CorelDraw software were used to develop the cartographic productions. The research and mapping provided spatialization and insights into the situation of irregular deposits in the municipality's urban space.
